Spring in the Adelaide Hills

Visit us in spring for apple and pear orchards thick with blossom, baby animals, budburst in the vineyards, and a profusion of colour in the gardens.

Gardens

Head to Mount Lofty Botanic Garden in Crafers to wander through magical Rhododendron Gully, one of Australia’s best Rhododendron collections. The Gully extends from near the upper carpark to the Duck Pond below, and it’s a sea of vibrant colour from August to October. The Heritage Rose Garden is a special collection of the species of roses from which all modern roses have been bred and is also a treat in spring.

Spring is also the perfect time for a tour of the Jurlique flower and herb farm in Biggs Flat where ingredients are grown for this global skincare and wellness brand. There are also more open gardens in spring than any other time of year so start planning!

Spring Highlights

Some of our favourite events in spring include:

You're also likely to see more baby animals in spring - whether it's koala joeys in the trees or lambs and other cuties at places like Hahndorf Farm Barn.

It's an exciting time for vignerons as their precious wine grape vines awaken from their bare dormant winter state with vivid green budburst. Settle in at one of the region's winery cellar doors overlooking the rolling vineyards.
